Our investigation shows that RPE cells of the adult monkey and animal models for Stargardt´s disease can eliminate lipofuscin induced by oral or intravitreal drug administration. In animal models for Stargardt´s disease (ABCA4 (-/-) mice) drug treatment improved survival of the photoreceptors.
