Optical Coherence Tomography is a non-invasive method for imaging the retina. Widely applied in patients OCT is also used to study eyes of animals to uncover the pathophysiology of retinal diseases and interaction with drug treatments.
STZ OcuTox uses a Spectralis®HRA+OCT.
OTC is the method of choice for a variety of standard assessments including:
- Lipofuscin detection
- Gene expression studies
A specialty of STZ OcuTox is the combination of OCT with real histological methods after sacrificing study animals. This allows the comparison of the virtual image with reality and enables a better interpretation of in vivo analysis.
