We believe that understanding the ocular mode of action of a drug before it goes to clinical trials can contribute towards its likely success. Despite the fact that many drugs are used successfully in the eye without really knowing how they work, there are many advantages of knowing what a drug’s mechanism is, e.g. it facilitates its development and contributes to more precise dosing in clinical trials, and in the long run can also increase the drug’s chances of being approved.
